CAMHS is made up of different teams that help support the mental and emotional wellbeing of children and young people up to 18 years old. We work with young people who have moderate to severe mental health difficulties, and offer specialist support when needed.
We are a team of professionals who support children and young people aged 5 to 18 with their emotional wellbeing and mental health. You may hear our service called CAMHS, which stands for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
You might come to CAMHS if you are feeling worried, sad, anxious, overwhelmed, or are finding it difficult to cope with everyday life.

All of our staff have specialist training and experience in supporting children and young people with mental health difficulties.
We do not accept referrals directly from patients or their families. But professionals, like doctors and therapists can refer you to our service.

The team checks every referral and looks for urgent needs. If we accept the referral, we will invite you to a CHOICE appointment. This is sometimes called an initial assessment.
