CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment Team (CAHTT)

  • We help children and young people who are experiencing a mental health crisis who might otherwise need to go into hospital, or who need more help than other CAMHS teams can provide.

About our service

We provide specialist support for children and young people experiencing a mental health crisis. Our aim is to help them stay safely at home wherever possible, reducing the need for a hospital admission.

A child or young person may be considered to be in crisis if any of the following apply:

  • They have serious intent or are at high risk of a suicide attempt.
  • They have attempted to take their own life by suicide.
  • They have taken an overdose.
  • They have deliberately self-harmed to an extent requiring medical attention, for example stitches or injuries below the subcutaneous tissues.
  • They are experiencing an acute onset of psychosis or mania.

Our service operates between 8 am — 8pm daily. We offer follow-up appointments and emergency assessments 7 days a week.
