CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment Team (CAHTT)

We help children and young people who are experiencing a mental health crisis who might otherwise need to go into hospital, or who need more help than other CAMHS teams can provide.
- Service hours: We open 7 days a week from 8am to 8pm.
About our service
We help children and young people who feel very upset or unsafe. We can:
- Help young people when they are in crisis in the community
- Make care plans to keep you or a loved one safe
- Help you or a loved one to access other mental health services and support
- See young people in hospital if they have self-harmed
- Help young people who think about ending their life
- Visit young people and their families at home
- Work with other services to keep you or a loved one safe.
We offer follow-up appointments and emergency assessments 7 days a week.

- Children’s services and social services
- Hospital mental health teams
- Adult mental health teams
- Mental health hospitals (inpatient care)
How to access the service
We do not accept referrals directly from patients or their families. But professionals, like doctors and therapists can refer you to our service.
Other professionals who can refer you to our team may include:
- GPs
- School nurses
- Health visitors
- Social workers
- School staff
- Children’s doctors (paediatricians)
Referral form
Most teams in CAMHS use the same referral form. This should be completed by one of the professionals listed above.
What happens after a referral is made?
The team checks every referral and looks for urgent needs. If we accept the referral, we invite you to a CHOICE appointment.

If you need help with how you or someone you care about is feeling, you can look at the advice section on our website. You can also talk to the team who is supporting you.
